Yacht rigging » The Rigging

The Rigg is a vital part of your sailing boat, but is very often left without service for long periods of time. This could result in:

  • Unsafe sailing.
  • Unsecure feeling during heavy winds.
  • Poor performance.
  • Major damage on sails or rigg.

With our state of the art equipment, we can help to prevent accidents, give your boat a better performance and above all make the sailing safer. We recommend, that the rigg is inspected once a year to avoid problems.

The RigReport

When we do the Testing and Trimming of a rigg information is gained in two ways, visual and digital. All this information is put together in a report, giving a indication of the condition of:

  • Vital connections and parts.
  • Trimm of the rigg.
  • Stays.
  • Lines.
  • And more...

This report will be added to the rigg service record

and can be used as reference material for the future, and makes it possible for you to monitor the condition of your rigg over a long period of time, and take action before the condition of the rigg becomes dangerous.

Note: A properly trimmed rig not only improves your performance, but also makes possible damage to rig or sail less likely, thanks
to a better distribution of the tension on the rig and the sails. The technical life span of Stainless steel stays is 10 to 15 years.
This means that after 10 years most the stretch in the rig is gone and the safety factor of the wire could possibly become unsafe (heavy weather/storm).We recommend a regular safety and performance inspection
of the rig, lines and the sails.
During the inspection there is special attention for distortion, hair cracks, corrosion, wire crack and irregularities.
These intensive inspections should start from an age of 5 years.
a standard check/trim is to be done once every 12 month.
